The brand

Frango Chocolate is a Chicago institution with over 100 years of history behind it. Known for their signature mint chocolates, the brand sits at the intersection of heritage and everyday luxury, a gift that feels special without feeling out of reach.

the brief

Frango brought me in to produce lifestyle photography for their Valentine's Day campaign, covering two distinct moments: a romantic gifting story between couples, and a Galentine's Day story built around female friendships.

The assets needed to support owned social channels, email, and media outreach, with a shelf life that extended well beyond the holiday itself.

Production & Creative Direction

Working from Frango's brand playbook, I produced the full shoot from the ground up. I sourced and cast three models across both campaign scenarios, directed wardrobe and styling to match the brand's warm, approachable tone, and scouted and booked a location that could hold multiple setups across both the couple and friends storylines.

The brief called for a fluid photography style, meaning the direction on set had to stay loose and natural even within a structured shot list. The gifting scenarios, someone covering eyes, the moment a box is opened, a group laughing at a kitchen table all required real spontaneity to land right. My job was to build the conditions for those moments and capture them when they happened.

Beyond still photography, the shoot also required capturing continuous frame sequences for animated GIFs, which added a layer of technical planning to what was already a full production day.

The work had to honor Frango's existing visual identity precisely. Their brand system specifies color palette, texture usage, logo application, and lighting standards down to the detail. Getting lifestyle photography to feel natural while staying true to a premium brand system is one of the harder creative balancing acts in this category, and it's where the pre-production work paid off.

The final product

Delivered lifestyle photography and GIF sequences across both campaign storylines, in horizontal and vertical formats, for use across Frango's social channels, email, and media placements.
